My Journey

2007-2009

A Revolution

In 2007 the world was on the cusp of a technological revolution. It was the year the iPhone was released, marking the beginning of a new era. The dot-com boom had been significant, but now we were entering an age where we would essentially become borderline cyborgs, carrying powerful devices in our palms, as we journeyed through space on a tiny rock called Earth. This period was a pivotal time for many, including myself.

2009-2011

A Journey Through Community College

As the youngest of six in a fatherless home, I was content spending my days skateboarding and playing football without pads in my neighborhood. My older sisters, however, had other plans for me. They convinced me to start community college, a decision that initially left me uncertain. For over two years, I wandered through various majors, struggling to find my passion and motivation. College courses were paid for by financial aid, and I was content with attending every other class, offering the occasional insensitive comment, and playing video games.

The Conversation That Changed Everything

It was the fall semester of 2009 when one conversation with my sister altered the course of my life.

Walsta: "So what are you doing right now, man? What happened with X-Ray technology? I thought you liked that major."

Wivvlenaire: "Well, when I found out what was involved in it, I was pretty grossed out. I don't think I ever want to have to work around a person's rectum."

Walsta: "I think that's pretty rare, and you would probably get used to it."

Wivvlenaire: "I don't think so."

Walsta: "Have you ever thought about computers?"

Wivvlenaire: "I hate computers. And while I'm a blerd, I'm not that much of a nerd."

Fully Embracing my Inner Blerd

In the fall of 2009, I embarked on a new journey by pursuing a major in Internet Technology. My first class introduced me to programming using a visual learning tool called Raptor. Despite being initially skeptical, I quickly found myself excelling in the subject. I became an unofficial tutor for my fellow classmates, assisting them with programming issues. Within a year and a half, I earned my Associates of Science with a 3.5 GPA, and I left behind my days of receiving Cs in college courses.

2023

Reflecting on the Journey

Over the past 12 years, I have continued to write software, experiencing the perpetual cycle of self-improvement. I've worked across multiple industries, honing not only my software development skills but also project management, mentoring, public speaking, and relationship-building abilities. My expertise spans various technologies, architectural patterns, and project management styles, all of which have led me to a simple truth: fundamentals matter most.

In February 2022, I decided to leverage this wealth of experience to work for myself. I'm confident in my abilities and eager to collaborate with individuals seeking an honest expert with a network of elite specialists in the field of software. If you have innovative ideas, consider setting up a free consultation with me. Let's discuss your projects and determine if I'm the right fit to help you bring them to life.
